Northern Waters
Northern Waters, this painting was published at the begining of the second World war.
Probably the longing for warm relaxed days of fun made his paintings more appealing at this particular time.
The title ‘Northern Waters’ implies possibly north east England, Bamburgh, where Russell Flint spent a great deal of his time.
It does not conjur up images of sun drenched beaches in the French Cote d’Azur.
This painting was published by W.J. Stacey in 1939
The number in the edition was 325, many of which will now be lost dmaged or faded.
The published price at the time was Five Guineas, which was probably quite a handsome amount in 1939.
